Vaaranam Ayiram(Tamil,Harris Jeyaraj)

With some interesting hooks and the required groove,Adiyae Kolluthe works!!..And of course,a special mention to Shruti Hassan's damn hawt vocals!!..Nenjukkul Peidhidum and Mundhinam Parthen are straight out of Harris' book!!..The former is a mish-mash of his earlier tracks while Mundhinam Parthen, with that middling tune ambles all the way despite the catchy prelude that has the protagonist's voice..The ambient tune and eerie backgrounds does the trick in Meela Mudiyamal but the bizarre vocals by the singers(Both male and female!!) is a piss off!!..And beyond the facade of its catchy rhythm,Yethi Yethi has a really stale tune and it sooo reminds of a Rahman track that i cant quite recall now..The above 5 tracks that i've mentioned epitomizes the fatigue in the tunes of Harris songs that i keep cribbing about almost always!!..But The last 2 tracks in the soundtrack make all the difference!!..Ava enna(Anjala Anjala,Hehe!!) welcomes the much needed change in Harris with style!!..And the choice of Karthik to croon the song is a masterstroke!!..But the next song,Anal Mele is even better!!..Sudha Raghunathan rules all over the song and this track is easily the highlight of the soundtrack!!..With 2 totally ishtyle Non-Harris'ish tracks and some other interesting tracks,This soundtrack is very impressive!!..Infact,it rocks!!....

sudha ragunathan seems to be a bit hapless to get such a lifeless song!!
nenjukkule song is really good (most expected to be a hit!!)

how come charan ur view is always exactly opposite to generalized opinion about the songs,be it "ANNUL MELE", which is the most normal song which harris had composed ever, and hariharan-harris combo works once again ,and i have to mention that "NENJUKUL PEITHIDUM VAAMALAI"(awesome string work) which is gonna be the sure shot chart buster of the year, next comes "MUNDHINAM PAARTHAENAE" which begins with "surya's" peepy voice and continues with naresh iyer's grasping vocal, and then "AVAL ENNA",(how come did u like this song?),but any way karthik has proven his caliber(we can see his home work in that song in minute sequences)and my favourite song "YETHI YETHI", (common benny),benny back with a bang after "taxi taxi",yethi yethi has wonderful lyrics(listen to it clearly,u will notice it),in this song harris has introduced a new singer called"SOLAR SAI"and the song which had released several months ago"ADIYAE KOLLUTHE"(TREMENDOUS GUITAR WORK)contains the delightful flavour of krish ,benny and shruthi hassan ,as u mentioned and this song also going to be a raging hit of the year, and at last "OH SHANTHI" ,which is a remix of "nenjukul peithidum" ,sung by S.P.B.CHARAN AND CLINTON, is very pleasing to hear and i think s.p.b charan can continue with his singing career rather than in acting, but as a whole "GAUTHAM-HARRIS-SURYA" combo will be a sure hit after kakha kakha.

On the contrary,Sudha Raghunathan should be quite pleased!!..
This song is so much on the carnatic side, one of the genres Harris hasnt explored that well..Thats y i felt its different from the usual nonsensical tracks that he usually composes..This track has left me dazed, especially when the song progresses to the stanzas...The very first Harris track, that i seem to be in such awe of!!..

hmmm as u said at last a change in harris soundtracks this tym....Hey as u said once again a karthik-surya combo has provd to b worth bt this tym it seems to be sum interesting folk number as opposite to ghajini..Bt i dont find any difference in harris replacement of sudha ragunathan to bombay jayashree as both seem to sing very similar......and shruthi hassan needs a spl mention.....she has sung as if she s a professional singer...One cud feel for d first tym tat she has got a resemblance of her father in singing....I cudnt undrstan how u dint like nenjukkul peindhidum song....Its really awesum and s sure to top the album...I do agree tat yethi yethi has got d resemblance of ar rahmans tune....Guys adiye kolluthe has already been declared a hit wid surya s expressions and dance givin lyf to tat song... On the whole generalised opinion s tat harris music has once again lived up to the much hyped expectations........

of course yesss,i do agree dat mundhinam parthen and nenjukul peidhidhum are straight from harris's book..i feel dat each composer has his\her own style and harris is a master in such melodies...but what i can conclude from ava enna and yethi yethi is that harris has brought in a radical change in his music and in a very very apt manner...
its really surprising to see a much hyped album of harris without the likes of bombay jayshree and kailash kher...oh shanti remix by sp charan is worth to be mentioned...
full marks to the tracks and to your amazing review...
gr8 going

the special thing abt "oh shanthi" song is that, gautham finished the shooting of this song in US ,and then asked harris to score the music, the difficult thing that harris undergone is to match up his composition with that of visuals!!! good job harris!!!

hi,charan this is bhaarath da, i read your review. we ve to agree with your thoughts on that 2 non-harris songs. But nenjukkle, adiye kolluthe and anjala songs are sure sensational hits. Also anal mela sounds better with sudha ragunathan. With surya's voice at first followed by naresh iyer's track in Mundhinam parthen seems to be so good. last but not least shruthihaasan is simply superb. totally vaaranam aayiram is a musical treat to all die hard fans of harris jeyaraj!!!

Pls read this page, the ragasiyam song is not from Vaaranam Aayiram. And do listen to these ppl's other songs too, quite good.
And on that note, meela mudiyamal is not from this movie either, though I do want to know where it's from :)
