Guru En Aalu(Tamil,Srikanth Deva)

Alaipayuthey aptly portrays Srikanth Deva's style of churning out songs. It is incoherent,Meaningless and boring!!..Kathal Kolagalam is anachronous, atleast behind twenty years..Krish(Getting annoyed with him!!)drones in Vaanam Vanthu and sings out of tune but the tune itself is juvenile, added with some annoying lyrics!!..Veesuvadhu too is mundane,But Benny as usual shines in his department..Kathal Kannadiyil too is instantly forgotten, with its nursery-rhymish tune while Chellame Chellame starts off superbly,But Udit Narayan's vocals completely militates against the song..Yea,We know Udit has that talent!!..But this is the best that the soundtrack has to offer!!..This soundtrack is an absolute trash!!..

Abhiyum Naanum(Tamil,Vidyasagar)

S.P.Balasubramanyam gives life to Azhagiya Azhagiya Kili, but otherwise the song is pretty assembly-line.Vaa Vaa En Devadhaye is likeable all right,But Madhu Balakrishnan is getting terribly typecast!!..His other bit song,Moongil Vittu Sendra is way too short!!..Chinnamma Kalyanam and Ore Oru Oorile go from bad to worse, thanks to Kailash Kher's unbearable vocals!!..But Ore Oru Oorile scores high on backgrounds with usual impressive add-ons by Vidyasagar..Pachai Kaatre is impressive, with lively vocals by Sadhana Sargam, while the other bit song Sher Punjabi is plain dumb!!..As i said, the class that the composer showed in Mozhi is evidently missing in Abhiyum Naanum. But hang on,for those who havent watched Mozhi,U can go buy this album..Because u get Mozhi dvd free with this album!!..lol!

Golmaal Returns(Hindi,Pritam,Ashish Pandit)

The soundtrack opens with 3 of Pritam's tracks,Tu Saala,Meow and Vacancy.Vacancy is spot on-Just what we expect when Neeraj Shridhar croons for Pritam!!..And Its wonderful to see Benny crooning in Hindi too!!..Meow,which is Suzy Q's second track for Pritam(Or is it?) is very similar to her first track,Hey ya(Kidnap)-funky, but of course a bit monotonous!!..Tu Saala is on the lower side when compared to the two other songs from the composer,(Is Anushka Manchandani, the one from Viva?:S)but has a neat rhythm supporting it all through..But the best song is the one composed by Ashish Pandit,Tha Kar ke-Neeraj Shridhar is again sizzling in this track too!!..Just like Golmaal's soundtrack, this one too is amazingly energetic!!..And i cant wait to watch this movie..I enjoyed the Golmaal movie immensely,btw!!..

Vaaranam Ayiram(Tamil,Harris Jeyaraj)

With some interesting hooks and the required groove,Adiyae Kolluthe works!!..And of course,a special mention to Shruti Hassan's damn hawt vocals!!..Nenjukkul Peidhidum and Mundhinam Parthen are straight out of Harris' book!!..The former is a mish-mash of his earlier tracks while Mundhinam Parthen, with that middling tune ambles all the way despite the catchy prelude that has the protagonist's voice..The ambient tune and eerie backgrounds does the trick in Meela Mudiyamal but the bizarre vocals by the singers(Both male and female!!) is a piss off!!..And beyond the facade of its catchy rhythm,Yethi Yethi has a really stale tune and it sooo reminds of a Rahman track that i cant quite recall now..The above 5 tracks that i've mentioned epitomizes the fatigue in the tunes of Harris songs that i keep cribbing about almost always!!..But The last 2 tracks in the soundtrack make all the difference!!..Ava enna(Anjala Anjala,Hehe!!) welcomes the much needed change in Harris with style!!..And the choice of Karthik to croon the song is a masterstroke!!..But the next song,Anal Mele is even better!!..Sudha Raghunathan rules all over the song and this track is easily the highlight of the soundtrack!!..With 2 totally ishtyle Non-Harris'ish tracks and some other interesting tracks,This soundtrack is very impressive!!..Infact,it rocks!!....

EMI(Hindi,Chirantan Bhatt)

The soundscape from 80's in Aaja aa works, while Mohit Chauhan's high pitched singing in Aankhon hi is mildly attractive.Chori Chori is incredibly banal and the title track too goes awry!!..Roshan Har dil is good enough for a one-time listen but gets boring pretty quickly with that incredibly childish humming being the other nitpicking thing!!..And Vote for Sattarbhai is noisy and extremely repulsive!!..With the title already indicating the amount of gaucherie thats required, this soundtrack is plain silly!!...

Fashion(Hindi,Salim-Sulaiman)

Fashion ka Jalwa was impressive right from when it was displayed in the promos!..The song has the composer duo's essence all over it and is overshadowed only by the next two tracks,Aashiyana and Mar Jawaan,of which both are immensely catchy.Salim Merchant excels in both the songs, with a special mention to Shruthi Pathak's vocals in Mar Jawan!!...Kuch Khaas hai is the soundtrack's highlight!!..The song is tantalizingly seductive, with that appeasing tune and choosing Neha Bhasin for this track is pleasantly surprising!!..This soundtrack by the composer duo is very good,to say the least!!..

Madesha(Kannada,Mano Murthy)

Lahari Baa Baa is not bad at all-Sonu Nigam is in amazing form crooning this one!!(Remember the dulcetty Anisuthide from Mungaru Male by Sonu?)..The title song by Gurukiran is punchy while Munjaane Manjagu too works, with that eerie backgrounds. But what is Kunal Ganjawala doing in Kannada?..(Well,Iam not complaining as long as the song is good...but quite surprised though!)..The folkish Gantu Gantu Preethi and the racy Tirugu Ye Bhoomige are passable while Taramayya is a complete rip-off from Ippatikinka(Pokiri)..Mano Murthy has churned out quite a number of good tracks(Thats wat i heard) but this soundtrack is hackneyed except the Sonu's song and of course the tune lift also sticks out as a sore thumb!...

Naan Aval Adhu(Tamil,Dharan,R.P.Patnayak,Prasanna Sekhar,G.V.Prakash)

Agayam Irangiya composed by G.V.Prakash falls flat mainly because of the heard before tune and one cant help notice the fact that the young composer is getting incredibly monotonous!!..The 2 versions of The title song (Naan Aval Adhu and Kathal oru Kaatru) composed by R.P.Patnayak(He is quite famous in Telugu!) are decent and Karthik sings with ease in his version of the song.Nee Dooramai Ponaalum composed by Prasanna Shekhar is mundane while Vaa Nilaa-the other song composed by G.V has a catchy tune and is very listenable!!..I dont know what made the director to opt for 4 music composers for this movie!..And i dont think he would be too happy with the end-product!!(And Dharan's Promo song is missing in the soundtrack!!..Damn!!)..

Poo(Tamil,S.S.Kumaran)

Chinmayee rules over the excellent Avaram Poo-A knock out melody, this one!!..Dheena and Pasamozhi are two delightful tracks with the composer himself crooning with his Ilaiyaraja'ish vocals in Pasamozhi.Maaman Engiruka has amazing stanzas with Harini's vocals being the highlight!!A very addictive song!!..The folkish Sivakasi Raathiye and Choo Choo Maari are 2 very different songs with latter being a shade more likeable. The soundtrack of Poo is refreshingly different from the other soundtracks and is a must-listen.A very impressive debut by S.S.Kumaran!!...

Chintakayala Ravi(Telugu,Vishal-Shekhar)

Merupula has a middling tune and is passable while Valla Valla Baby is a groovy number and impresses instantly.Enduko is a good fast-paced melody while Bagundey Bagundey has a simple lilting tune ably supported with lively vocals by Vijay Prakash and Hansika. The two tracks by Shankar Mahadevan-Oh Sunita and Shava Shava Balle Balle are hackneyed but suits Venki's image well though!!..Vishal-Shekhar are in decent form in Chintakayala Ravi but the expected quality of music evident in all the duo's soundtracks is missing. Therefore your bound to get disappointed if ur a hardcore fan of Vishal Shekhar!!..From another Perspective,Iam really looking forward to watch this movie!!..A comedy movie from Venki after a looooong time!!....

Nannusire(Kannada,Premgi Amaran)

So here goes my first review for a Kannada movie!!..I do not have much of an exposure towards kannada movie songs except some of the very famous ones like Jinke Mareena etc..!!
Nenu Nanagaagi is the kannada version of the song Anbae which Premgi composed in his album(Shit, dont remember the name of the album!!..As in it was not a movie..And It was not released officially also because i checked a number of times by seeing in Muzicworld(Pondy Bazaar)..lol!..But Iam quite sure that the song was sung by Vijay Yesudas!!)..The song is even more impressive in kannada with superb vocals by Karthik and Srinivas!!..Hesarina Melu Preeti is a haunting melody with beautiful chorus that remains in your mind, long after the song is over!!..Munjaane Suryanne too is very likeable with some good interludes and beautiful singing by Sujatha!!..In Sanje Beachinalli, despite using the Aadaludan Padalai Kettu song as the Prelude and almost throughout the song,it works mainly because of the rap infusions and Premgi's singing!..the folkish Ninagaagiye is decent while the groovy title song ends the album on a high note!!..
Premgi produces a stunner in his Kannada debut!!...

Poova Thalaiya(Tamil,Peter John)

Thee Kozhi can be easily interpreted to be a Villain's song and has all the tried and tested sounds!..Maippoosum too is outdated and is instantly forgotten. The mandatory Hero-worship tracks Sozha Mannar and Ettu Dikkum go haywire after a decent beginning.Vatta Nilavu is marginally interesting mainly due to the orchestration, while Kombuthan is disgusting to the core!..A change of music composer from Pravin Mani to Peter John hasnt worked out for Sanjay(Not that the songs in his previous movies were good, but still!!)..Sanjay showcases his lack of music sense in this movie yet again!!...

Durai(Tamil,D Imman)

Raja Rajathi Raja remix is utter nonsense with the only solace being Karthik's vocals. How did Imman even think of doing the remix of such a great song?!!..And that too soo badly!!...Vattaikkum Sonthakkaran has a predictable tune but is considerably better than the remix though!...Adi Aathi is a mere Yeh Mama(Marudhamalai) clone and funnily enough, this song too annoys like the one in Marudhamalai.Unnai Maathiri is decent but Udit Narayan, as usual is irritating!...And finally Ayiram ayiram-This song is completely outdated and is silly!!..There is no doubt that Imman is talented!..He's come up with some good numbers in Thiruvilaiyadal Aarambham and other movies but this soundtrack of his is an absolute mess!...

Drona(Hindi,Dhruv Ghanekar)

The title song starts off superbly with some excellent vocals by the composer(particularly when he goes high pitch in the stanzas!)and the tune as such is awesome!!..Oop Cha is incoherent and the assortment of sounds that comes in the prelude is so silly and the tune too is incredibly childish!!...But Bandagi is fantastic with lively vocals by Sunidhi Chauhan and Roop Kumar Rathod. And Predictably,Kushi is mundane and ambles while Nanhe Nanhe has a simple tune and is lilting.Dhruv Ghanekar comes up with an above average soundtrack in his debut mainly because of the title song and that appeasing melody!..

Ru-Ba-Ru(Hindi,Speed of Sound,Sameeruddin,Satyadev Barman)

Satyadev Barman's Tham ja Ruk Ja and Manchali are passable with latter having some good vocals by Sunidhi Chauhan.Rest of the songs composed by him are trite barring the slow Bhangra styled Jogi which is good in parts.
Speed of Sound's Bhangra version of the title track is hackneyed and boring.Same goes with Tera Woh Pyaar also.
Sameeruddin comes up with a much better version of the title track and Akshay Verma impresses with his good vocals in Ye Jo Pal.The other 3 songs by him do not deserve a mention!..
This soundtrack is worn-out barring of course, the 2 songs by Sameeruddin!..

Hello(Hindi,Sajid-Wajid)

The title track has some very impressive backgrounds undone by that incredibly juvenile tune!...Shafqat Amanat Ali's voice stands out in Caravan but the tune otherwise is boring.Bang Bang Bang is plain silly with some dumb lyrics and stupid orchestration.Same goes with Karle Baby dance wance which is even more painful!!..Mitwa re is predictable and middling while Rab Ka Banda is reasonably good but the tune reminds sooo much of a song which i cant recall now. This is supposed to be the movie version of the mega hit One night at the call center by Chetan Bhagat. But the soundtrack is bottomless and boring!!...

Saas Bahu aur Sensex(Hindi,Blaaze,Bipin Panchal,Randolph Correa)

Whats up India-composed by Rapper Blaaze is interesting and catchy but becomes a tad boring when it progresses to the end.The mandatory remix song is fatuous!..
Coming to Randolph Correa composed tracks-Abhi Abhi and Mujh Mein.Abhi Abhi works, with some good singing by Javed Ali(Remember Jashn-e-Bahara?).Mujh mein is enjoyable to a certain extent but is inspired from Temperature by Sean Paul, mainly the backgrounds!!..Meanwhile Bipin Panchal's solo bhangra composition too works, beyond the banal sound evident in all bhangra tracks.Soundtrack of Saas Bahu aur Sensex(what a wierd name?!) is surprisingly not bad!!..

Welcome to Sajjanpur(Hindi,Shantanu Moitra)

Sita Ram and Dildaara are plain routine and incoherent..Remix version of Sita Ram?????!!...
Ek Meetha Marz is considerably better but is reminiscent of songs in 1942,A love story.Munni ki bhari is strictly situational and depends on how its shown on the screen.Same goes with Aadmi Azaad Hai desh, but Kailash Kher shines with his fab vocals.Bheeni Bheeni is a soothing melody and both the singers KK and Shreya Ghoshal as usual play their part very well. This seems to be Shyam Benegal's first try at comedy and the songs he's got from his composer are not that great.(very situational though!)

Saroja-Movie Review(Venkat Prabhu)

Saroja is a stirring triumph of Venkat Prabhu's directorial skills!!..And its a notch better than the classy Chennai-600028.
The movie progresses with a rather slow first half but thats forgiven due to spirited performances from all the 4 guys(S.P.Charan,Vaibhav,Shiva and PREMGI AMARAN).A cameo by all others from the Ch-28 team is titillating.
veterans Prakash Raj and Jayaram do justice to their roles but there's been an amount of tacitness to both their roles.Maybe thats because their roles have been dwelt briefly.
There is such an overdose of comedy that u feel very light-hearted about the plot. That is mainly because of PREMGI AMARAN!!.He's just hilarious in the movie and is a major highpoint mainly in the second half. His one-liners keeps u in splits and has a bright future as a comedian.Comedian,Music Director,Rapper-One heck of a talent!!...
Sakthi Saravanan, the cameraman is awesome especially in the night scenes and has captured the effect very well.Yuvan Shankar Raja's music is a major plus to the movie and his background score in the movie is just world class,to say the least!!..
At last,Venkat Prabhu....He has matured as a director and the way he takes his movie through is great!!..
So what are you waiting for?..Just go and watch it!!

Kidnap(Hindi,Pritam,Sandeep Vyas,Sanjeev Vyas)

Mit Jaaye starts off with a tune that is too familiar and is strictly pedestrian but is hum-worthy and is certainly the best song that the soundtrack has to offer!!..Suzi Q excels over Hey ya with some funky backgrounds and with that immensely attractive tune.Adnan Sami infuses life into Haan Ji,but the tune otherwise is painfully routine.Mausam works, with neat rhythm and Shreya Ghoshal's vocals being the highpoints while in Meri Ek Ada Shola, that ennui is evident throughout the song and is apparently forgotten quickly.Pritam-Sanjay Gadhvi combination has always worked(even though a large part of plagiarism persisted in most of their albums-That is inevitable when Pritam composes!!).But in Kidnap, most part of the soundtrack is largely unimpressive!!..

Kotha Bangaru Lokam(Telugu,Mickey J Meyer)

Confusion is foot-tapping and has an enthusiastic feel to it.SPB is as usual awesome in Nee Prashnalu with beautiful backgrounds while Ok Anesa has a middling tune and is good in parts.Nenani Neevani is charming and showcases the composer's skill all through.Kalasala lo is punchy and is listenable, but is reminiscent of Mickey's earlier songs. But the highlight of the soundtrack is Nijanga Nenena-This track is truly divine and Karthik is at his amazing best in the song!!..Mickey J Meyer does very well in Kotha Bangaru Lokam with some top-notch tunes which will, for sure evoke anticipation for the film,An added bonus for the movie which already has Dil Raju as its producer!!..

Yennai Theriyuma(Tamil,Achu)

Thanni Karuthirichi remix is instantly forgotten with Simbhu's horrible singing!..The soundtrack gets considerably better with the subsequent songs!!..Yedho yedho is a surprise!!..I was actually furious when i noticed that the singer was premgi!!..But his voice suits very much and contributes to the song which has a daringly different tune and is way better than the disastrous ada gada!!..And his voice sounds soo much like yuvan in the song!!..Theme music too is interesting and different!!...Ennai Matramo is great-Just what we expect when the singers are Karthik and Bombay Jayashree..Thirumba pogave is punchy and Oru Parvai Parthu too is refreshing with superb vocals by Sriram Parthasarathy(Why does he sing once in a blue moon?)..Oh my love is fantastic with the composer himself joining the party this time!!...Composer Achu is way too matured for a first timer!!..

Recent Picks of the month(August)

Ek Baar(Qismat Apne Haat Mein)
Shehzad Roy is on a roll.QAHM is a great album to listen to!!..
Janay Kahan is also my favourite!!..

Mallepuvvu(Mallepuvvu)
A melody from Raja is always a delight to listen to!!..
This song is no different!!..

Hari om(Karzzzz)
Yes...I know i said this album is awful!!..But i sorta liked this song after 2 listens and i still like it!!..

Yevarunnarani Neekaina(Yuvatha)
This song impresses just like how hrudayam(parugu)impressed..This song is of the same genre and Hemachander's voice is a huge plus!!...

Phir wohi raastey(Raamchand Pakistani)
a slow but a very pleasant song!!

Kaathal Theeviravadhi(Pandhayam)
This song has a nice tune and is very likeable...but why does the male voices in all Vijay Antony's songs sound the same?..

Telusa(Gunde Jhallumandi)
The chorus is a disparagement but paragraphs are just beautiful!!...
