Kurbaan(Movie Review-Rensil D'Silva and Karan Johar)

I know its been ages since i reviewed movies, but i wanted to give my 2 cents on Kurbaan. The theme of the film for sure assimilates that of New York, but it just ends there. It is a sensitive take on terrorism, but in an altogether different dimension. The breathtaking 40 minute climax is the highlight of the film and it has been filmed in an impeccable manner.Saif Ali Khan lives the role of Ehsaan Khan,so does Vivek Oberoi in his role!..And the fact that Vivek gets almost equal footage with Saif is a masterstroke.Kareena has played her part well without going overboard while Kirron Kher just looks blank in most of the scenes and is a misfit!..The much hyped sensual scene between the lead pair was as it intended to be-sensual,but fitted in the scheme of things, which is surprising and convincing!..When it comes to music and background score, both are top-notch and Salim-Sulaiman deserve plaudits. And with that,Kurbaan joins the list of favourite movies this year, along with 99 and Kaminey!

Dev D(Anurag Kashyap)

A slightly out-of-place 2nd half along with some cliches(Not to mention,Paro's character-Mahi Gill?)are the only sore points in this movie.Being 'loosely' inspired from Devdas is one thing. On the other hand, giving an entirely trendy look to it along with impeccable screenplay and world-class music is entirely another thing.Abhay Deol pulls off his character of Dev with elan and he has to be lauded for taking up this script and conceptualising it too.The much-hyped infusion of MMS scandal thingy to introduce Chanda character is actually very intelligent although casting for the role could've been a shade better.Usage of all 18 songs in the movie is pleasantly surprising.Amit Trivedi's compositions are incredibly suited to the theme and he rocks in the background score too.Anurag Kashyap's Dev D is a fitting tribute to Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel Devdas!..

Saroja-Movie Review(Venkat Prabhu)

Saroja is a stirring triumph of Venkat Prabhu's directorial skills!!..And its a notch better than the classy Chennai-600028.
The movie progresses with a rather slow first half but thats forgiven due to spirited performances from all the 4 guys(S.P.Charan,Vaibhav,Shiva and PREMGI AMARAN).A cameo by all others from the Ch-28 team is titillating.
veterans Prakash Raj and Jayaram do justice to their roles but there's been an amount of tacitness to both their roles.Maybe thats because their roles have been dwelt briefly.
There is such an overdose of comedy that u feel very light-hearted about the plot. That is mainly because of PREMGI AMARAN!!.He's just hilarious in the movie and is a major highpoint mainly in the second half. His one-liners keeps u in splits and has a bright future as a comedian.Comedian,Music Director,Rapper-One heck of a talent!!...
Sakthi Saravanan, the cameraman is awesome especially in the night scenes and has captured the effect very well.Yuvan Shankar Raja's music is a major plus to the movie and his background score in the movie is just world class,to say the least!!..
At last,Venkat Prabhu....He has matured as a director and the way he takes his movie through is great!!..
So what are you waiting for?..Just go and watch it!!
