Slumdog Millionaire(A.R.Rahman and other Assorted artists)

A First listen to the lofty O...Saya should give you a good amount of reason why you should give this soundtrack a listen. It captivates right from the start with Rahman's mesmerizing vocals.Whether it is the slow and soothing Latika's Theme by Suzanne,or the Punchy beats in Riots or whether it is the Pop'ish Millionaire,or the weirdly named but very insteresting Mausam and Escape,This soundtrack has it all for you!..Just when u start thinking that the best song composed by Rahman in this soundtrack is O...Saya,you are bound to change your mind when you listen to Liquid Dance.Palakkad Sriram and Madhumita create magic along with the grandiloquent orchestration.Jai Ho,composed by Rahman too is a fine attempt and is indeed very likeable but the other tracks just kinda drowns this track. The tracks by the other Artists include MIA's Paper Planes and its DFA remix, and Ringa Ringa, which is Choli Ke Peeche revisited and both are fantastic add-ons to this soundtrack. The completely western Gangsta Blues and Suzanne's Second track,Dreams on Fire are Sizzling in every way!!..But Whatever said,Rahman's compositions make the impact in this soundtrack!!..Just When I thought Rahman was off his rocker after listening to his tunes in Ghajini,He springs a complete surprise here. Not that i expected any less of him!!..He reaches the height of consummacy with this soundtrack and of course, deserves quite a bit of veneration!!..This soundtrack is a spellbinder!!..

Ghajini(Hindi,A.R.Rahman)

Hey Guzarish is no doubt likeable, but there is no pretending the fact that it gets a tad boring when it gets to the charanams, but Javed Ali simply amazes with his out-of-the-world vocals. This track is also painfully reminiscent of some of the Rahman's old songs.Benny's Kaise Mujhe simply drags through and it is in one word, soporific even though Shreya Ghoshal sounds as sweet as ever. But Karthik's Behka impresses, with an unconventional structure rendered with gusto by Karthik.Aye Bachchu falls largely flat just like its Tamil equivalent Rahatulla(or is it X-Machi?) while the meandering Latoo makes you wonder whether this track was composed by Rahman.Aamir Khan-Rahman combination fails for the second time, after Mangal Pandey(I might be one of the persons who dint like Mangal Pandey)with Ghajini.Harris Jeyaraj's composition for Ghajini was way better!!..

Mahesh,Saranya Mattum Palar(Tamil,Vidyasagar)

The largely carnatic Thajam Thajam is an innovative attempt by the composer while the fast-paced melody in Vizhiyil Vizhiyil and the lively Yaarathu Yaarathu attract, with special to Karthik's vibrant vocals in Yaarathu Yaarathu. The beautiful En Uyirukkul,is a typical Vidyasagar track with Tippu making a mark again after his excellent Vanathai Vittu in Raman Thediya Seethai.Benny's Katrae Katrae has a middling tune, but the song sounds kinda nice with his as-usual-great vocals. If there is anywhere the soundtrack falters,it is because of the next three tracks.SPB's two tracks,Thanthathil Seitha Nila and Vaikarai Paniye are largely outdated and deserve a miss while the last track En Padal is routine.Considering the fact that this is an 8 song-soundtrack,MSMP largely impresses!..Vidyasagar continues his fine form after RTS!..

Dil Kabaddi(Sachin Gupta)

Ehsaan is fairly interesting with extricate backgrounds and the composer's vocals add a certain amount of flavour to the song.Ratah Fateh Ali Khan sizzles with his exuberant vocals in Zindagi Ye while Nasha Nashila is very catchy with neat backgrounds, accentuated by the the predictable tune. The reggaeton-infused
Utha Le is monotonous but scores on the fun side while Ok Tata done is just about bearable.Good Night has some annoyingly ridiculous lyrics and the tune hardly sinks in.Sachin Gupta explores quite a number of genres varying from a Ratah Fateh Ali Khan number to a reggaeton number to a slow melody!..Quite an interesting debut!..

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi(Hindi,Salim-Sulaiman)

Haule Haule and Tujh Mein Rab are utterly predictable, but make no mistake-the structure and the tune of both the songs are so simple and heartwarming(Particularly in Tujh Mein Rab)that it takes over you instantly.Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte is definitely interesting and has a quirky charm associated with it mainly due to the interesting fusion of some old tracks, but it is better seen than heard!..Dance Pe Chance is grossly stupid and is assembly-line.Surely Salim-Sulaiman are capable of better stuff than this!..The problem with this soundtrack is that it is no different from the songs composed under the Yash Raj banner off-late,but it ultimately manages to stay afloat.

Recent picks of the month(October)

Where is the Party(Silambattam)
Yuvan scores an extremely enjoyable number with this track.Could be an anthem for a while in Tamil Nadu!!..

Dil Ka Rishta(Yuvvraaj)
A magical number by Rahman that can bring goosebumps to anyone who puts their ears to this track!!..

Pattu Poochi(Aanandha Thandavam)
An incredibly stylish track sung with panache by Naresh Iyer and especially the tune that comes immediately after the chorus is amazing!..

Madhumasa(Sangama)
This track has all the elements that a Devi Sri Prasad track should have.Unsurprisingly, very enjoyable!!..

Pada Pada(Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu)
With beautiful vocals by Karthik, this is the best track in Selvaganesh's inspiring debut!..

This is one heck of an enjoyable track by Vishal-Shekhar with some interesting infusions in the middle that makes it even more lively!..

Siru Thoduthalile(Laadam)
Haricharan rocks all through this track with his sizzling vocals, ably supported by Bombay Jayashree and the instantly attractive tune propped up by Dharan.
